Independence Day Parade - July 3rd, 2010

June 30th, 2010

Alright! It's almost the Fourth! Are you as excited as I am? I love all the fireworks, the people (the cookouts!) and all the colors. Did you know Shawnee's going to have its first Independence Day parade to celebrate? Yeah! On July 3rd, at 9:00 AM, the parade will start at the First Christian Church on Broadway and march itself right down to Woodland Park. All vehicles are welcome (skateboards, motorcycles, floats) and the kids will play an important part since it's entitled Children Honor America. Prizes will be involved!

We'll be decorating our store front for the festivities. It's sponsored by the American Legion, so be sure to come by! Have a wonderful holiday!

Blog Feature: Our Favorite Weddings

June 22nd, 2010

This wedding actually happened awhile ago, but it's too pretty not to share. Lots of lush pinks & browns....

Ooo....ahhhh
Okay, so it's not a great picture. But check out those lovely hot pink gerbs on that brown tablecloth! Pink & brown is certainly a winning color combo of late. The rest of the bouquet is topped off with soft pink roses, white freesia, pink wax filler and glitzy, glitzy jewels.

Here's a side view so you can see the handle:

Corner pieces for the reception:

I love those dahlias.

The bride was looking for something to cut cost and yet still make a big splash at the reception, so we went with large vases filled with curly willow and pink wax.

These pieces were done for two special tables, one of which was the gift table:

And those gerbers! Soft pink centers with cream petals. (also shown are hot pink roses and white dahlias.)

Our candelabra in action (as well as the cake servers!):

This wedding was gorgeous. Everyone was lovely, the flowers came in beautiful and the colors were spot on.

And as one last parting shot, one of my favorite aspects of their wedding: the dessert bar!

Wedding: Lovely Hydrangeas!

June 17, 2010

We recently worked with a bride who loved the look of hydrangeas! We're pretty big fans of them too, so we were more than glad to oblige. She wanted a huge ball of hydrangeas for her bouquet and I was so glad to see them arrive bigger than my whole hand! They made for a large yet lovely wedding bouquet:

The bride brought in her own ribbon and I loved it. Check out the one with small ivory dots! Elegant with just a touch of youthful enthusiasm. Perfect.

The only thing about hydrangeas is that they need water at all times and as a florist we compensate for that and make sure they stay perfect for your day. But it is something we tell our brides to be aware of, especially during these hot summer days.

Our bride decided to step away from traditional corsages for the mothers and went with matching handheld bouquets for the two instead. She suggested nestling them in babies breath since it's one of her favorite flowers. I was surprised by how much I liked it myself at the end!
Handheld bouquets for the mothers are a good choice for something different but sweet. This also avoids the problem of pinholes in a nice, new dress and gave the mother something to do with her hands!

And for the toss, two hydrangeas wrapped up in all three of her ribbons, with ivory pearls to complete the corset tying.

And for the reception they decided to go with bubble bowls filled to the brim with only hydrangeas.

Hydrangeas are a wonderful choice for a big, showy presentation! Always talk about any concerns you have with your florist. We'd love to be of assistance!

New! Cash and Carry!

June 10, 2010

We have some awesome cash and carry options starting up this summer. Check out these beauties:

We're sure you are as excited as we are! Let's give you the info for all your burning questions.

So what exactly do you have now?
We've got cash & carry wraps available in two sizes giving you two different pricing options. The smaller wrapped bouquets are $10.00 and the larger ones come in at $20.00. You can upgrade the larger bouquet into a vase and we'll be glad to arrange it and add greenery for a total of $30.00. The cool thing about the vase arrangement is it can be delivered locally if you like ($7.95 delivery fee), where the wraps cannot.

Wow, sounds great? What else do you have coming?
Since June is National Rose Month we're celebrating with cash & carry roses coming in next week- all colors! A dozen roses for $18.95 is too good a deal to pass up.

I have a certificate. Does this change things for me?
No. If you have a certificate you will continue to receive the same great wraps per usual, except this time with more variety of flowers. You still have the option to upgrade to a vase for $20.00.

Is there anything else we should know?
These particular flowers do have a 24 hour guarantee. Since they are cash & carry they are not as durable as our standard flowers, however they should continue to last beyond that day.

All this is great, but just give me the breakdown.
No problem!

Certificates? The same.
Smaller Versions? $10 Cash & Carry Wrapped
Larger Versions? $20 Cash & Carry Wrapped
Larger Versions Arranged? $30 in Vase
24 Hour Guarantee
Roses next week!

Christmas in June

June 7, 2010

Whew! Has it really been since March since we've updated? I'm so sorry. What a wild ride between Mothers Day, Memorial Day, weddings and all the everyday work in between. Right now we're already thinking Christmas-- can you believe it's time to order? We're looking at some pretty cool stuff to make this year's holiday extra special. At least it keeps up cool during this already sultry summer! :)
