Shawnee Basketball: Rooting for you all the way!

Wow! Shawnee is SET for basketball! Not only did the Lady Wolves finish out the year as undefeated State Champions, now the Bison Men are going into the Semifinals for the NAIA championship!

Major congrats to the Lady Wolves who brought back the gold ball! And Bison, you know we're rooting for you all the way! Let's bring this one home two years in a row!

We've been LOVING Pinterest.

I mean, there's no better place to store (and share!) our favorite floral finds from all over the internet.  Wedding trends are especially a high priority for us, so you know there's lots of pretty pins for you lovely brides! We love searching out not just the awesome floralness, but also the most popular chair covers, decor, dresses, cakes, etc. Geek Chic love? Check. Dreamy Bridals? Check. The Wildly Different? Check. Steampunk? Check!

We're also using it to keep in more constant contact with our brides. This way your board is always available at your fingertips, from images you've provided as well as other images we've found that suit your wedding as well.

We don't always post our floral inspiration finds over on Facebook (we respect your Newsfeed too much!) but of course all the beauties are available on our boards for your perusal.

Wedding Trends: It's still all about the Feathers.

Feathers are a HUGE trend in the wedding industry right now. (And if you're a bride you know that because you'll see them EVERYWHERE.) It all started with ostrich feathers a few years ago - and now it's any color, any kind goes! :)

Ostrich feathers are still very popular, but now you'll notice brides leaning more and more towards incorporating them for color as much as texture. This bridal that went out last week is a great example - cream roses with just a splash of turquoise feathers for color (and sparklies! all the sparklies!). We love it.

Even pheasant feathers are getting in on the act with the ever-popular "rustic chic" or "rustic elegance" look that you'll also be seeing a lot of now. There are so many types of feathers out there - don't be afraid to pull them into your look for an extra touch of style!

Here Bob is modeling Edna's corsage! Shawnee Little Theatre will be performing Hairspray all this week, and we provided one of the star corsages. ;)

Yes, that is singular. Corsage. That is all one corsage. Hot pinks, turquoises & yellows. Whew!

But we've gotten so many comments on how good Bob looks in it that it like Steve Simpson (who's performing as Edna) has a run for his money!

Bridal Beauty: Carnations

Carnations get a lot of bad rap from a lot of people - too often they're sadly disregarded as a "cheap" flower and are tossed aside as an option. Which is a shame because they come in some gorgeous colors.

But we're thinking this might just change their mind. ;)

This particular shade is of the "moon series" carnations - lavenders, medium purples and then this deep dark rich purple. I can't resist carnations all balled up like this - they give off the impression of one gigantic flower rather than several small ones. Beautiful.

This is one we completed in the shop last week, but you can see this style a lot in the current wedding trends. If you're looking to keep cost down - and at the same time keep your style high - don't underestimate these little beauties. They're bringing back some serious class to the wedding industry.

Thanks for making our Valentine's Day so wonderful everyone!! We wouldn't trade our customers for the world. Sure, we're still recovering, but you guys always make it worth it. :)
