Merry Christmas & Happy 2013!
We'll be closing early today and all day tomorrow to spend time with our families over the holidays. We're planning to be back on December 26th, but we're also keeping a close eye on that weather storm!
And so you can preplan if needed, we will also be closed New Years Eve as well as New Years Day. Then we're back to our regular hours for your floral fix! :)
I know I can safely say everyone at Graves wishes you & yours the best & brightest in 2013. And that we hope you know how much we appreciate all your business, love & friendship throughout each & every year.
We hope everyone has a beautiful (and safe!) holiday season!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Back from the Flower Show....
(And let me tell you: their new building is amazing.)
Not to mention our designer for the evening, Vonda LaFever, was also amazing. Greenleaf & the Oklahoma Board did a fantastic job of bringing her in and hosting a lovely inspiration workshop for the state.
And not only is Vonda a tops designer, she is so nice. Absolutely engaging personality, fascinating to watch and learn from, and also, quite funny.
Wonderful job for everyone involved! It was super fun, Greenleaf's new coolers are top notch and the place looks remarkable.
Let's end on one of our favorite arrangements from LaFever:

Olympics: The Victory Bouquet & Opening Ceremonies!
We can't wait for opening ceremonies tonight.
And of course, part of what we love about every Olympic season is seeing what is chosen for the winner's bouquets!
Be sure to check out this article on Flowerona for all the breakdown on whats in these beauties. The elements for the victory bouquet can be quite restrictive in terms of size & shape, so its always fun for us to see what creativity can develop within those guidelines!

2012 Weddings: Purple & Creams at Stubblefield
We loooooved this cream & purple wedding, especially since it featured some of our favorites: dark schwarzwalder & picasso callas! This wedding was at Stubblefield Chapel on OBU's campus and was so pretty against the style of that sweet old chapel.

2012 Weddings - Yellow, Gray & White
We love the colors in this gorgeous summer wedding - so cool and classic! This just went out of the shop last week.

The bridal bouquet - all white of lisianthus, freesia, hydrangeas & roses with seeded euc and dusty miller.
Mm....love dusty miller.

Bridesmaids of all yellow buttons, roses, freesia with seeded euc & dusty miller.
Boutonnieres of billy balls, seeded euc and a touch of dusty miller.
Lisianthus corsage with seeded euc. Aren't these lizzys just gorgeous? We were oo'ing and aah'ing over them all week in the shop! So soft and pretty!

Composite Roses
Ooo..... brides, what do you think of carrying a composite rose for your bridal? We think they're gorgeous!
A composite rose consists of several roses put together to create the effect of one giant rose. (In this smaller case, three.) They remind us of the rose in Beauty & the Beast! What do you think of using them as your bridal or for your lovely bridesmaids? :)
Composites are starting to make a comeback. You can create them out of several different flowers - gladiolas, (known as glamelias in this style), calla lilies, cymbidium orchids, carnations....They can be labor intensive and therefore can be a little more costly, but the effect can be stunning! What do you think?

Wedding Trends: It's still all about the Feathers.
Feathers are a HUGE trend in the wedding industry right now. (And if you're a bride you know that because you'll see them EVERYWHERE.) It all started with ostrich feathers a few years ago - and now it's any color, any kind goes! :)
Ostrich feathers are still very popular, but now you'll notice brides leaning more and more towards incorporating them for color as much as texture. This bridal that went out last week is a great example - cream roses with just a splash of turquoise feathers for color (and sparklies! all the sparklies!). We love it.
Even pheasant feathers are getting in on the act with the ever-popular "rustic chic" or "rustic elegance" look that you'll also be seeing a lot of now. There are so many types of feathers out there - don't be afraid to pull them into your look for an extra touch of style!

Wedding: Navy Blue & White Winter Wedding
We had a beautiful navy blue & white wedding at the beginning of January that I've been wanting to show off... but we got so busy and I just now finished editing the photos! Be sure to pay attention to that night sky in the background of the ceremony....it was GORGEOUS. Such a perfect shade of blue to match. And while you can't see it in the pics, the moon was shining through those windows! It was beautiful.
Congrats to Kelly & Matt Waller!! :) We wish you all the best in your married bliss!!
